The completion of the new city hall is slated for mid-May and Bisbee City Manager Stephen Pauken said when all is said and done the project may be $10k to $20k over budget but that the city will own the property outright.
Pauken said, “how many can say they constructed a from the ground up $3.997 million property and not have a mortgage. We can. We utilized the insurance proceeds received for the destruction of the building in 2017 and we saved in order to fund the project without taking out any loans.”
He said the $10k to $20k is due to the rising cost in materials. Adding that credits have been given for items such as windows. “We received a credit for the difference in the windows, but that money was utilized for other materials needed.”…..read full story (online subscribers only)
