APS and the Bisbee Fire Department teamed up last week to continue efforts to reduce the risk of wildfires that keep Bisbee and the rest of the due to the dry hot weather conditions.

Jake Guadiana, APS Fire Mitigation Specialist said APS has been working on clearing brush and dry grass located within a 10 ft radius from each APS owned power poles around the state. “We have a goal in 2025 to clear debris from about 40,000 poles, including close to 500 poles in Bisbee”.

A crew from Southwest Ground Control, contracted by APS was on hand with weed whackers and other tools on February 12 clearing around power poles in Old Bisbee to include Compton Rd. Guadiana added that crews had already treated approximately 238 poles in Bisbee.
