City Council Passes Resolution To Transfer Funds For Shared Use Path

The Bisbee city council voted four to two to transfer funds from Capital Improvement, originally bed tax funds, for the shared use path Lavender Pit east segment, if necessary at the June 2, council meeting by way of a resolution.

Councilmembers Karen Schumacher and Mel Sowid voted against the Resolution R-26-17, authorizing the use and transfer of $100,000, saying the money should be put back into the visitor center budget and not be used for the bikeways project.

Councilmember Schumacher expressed her concern over the use of the funds saying, “the council authorizing the use of the funds might be legal but is against best practices.”
