Last week the Bisbee City Council made the decision after a 20-minute executive session to take no action on a resolution requested by some Bisbee residents calling for an immediate ceasefire and affirming Bisbee’s commitment to human rights and the protection of civilians in Gaza.
At the September 16, city council meeting after reconvening from an executive session on the agenda item Mayor Ken Budge told the crowd of people, many of which signed up to speak on the item, the council would not be taking any action on the requested resolution due to legality issues but told the crowd they would still be allowed to speak.
Budge said, “Recently a group came to us to express their concerns regarding the Israeli Gaza thing, obviously it is extremely heated situation and there are some legal considerations that have come into effect.”….read full story (online subscribers only)
