City sales tax revenues are continuing to fall short of projected revenue for the 2025/26 fiscal year general fund budget which means if there is not an improvement the city could be forced to make cuts.

Mayor Ken Budge said if there is no improvement once the December financial report is received, cuts in spending will be put into place. “Just because it’s in the budget does not mean it can be spent,” he said.

The city had projected the city sales tax revenue for fiscal year 25/26 at $3,000,000 but as of the November report prepared by Finance Director Keri Bagley sales tax revenue collected is at about 25 percent despite 42 percent of the fiscal year having lapsed.
