The Bisbee city council approved authorizing Westland Resources to update the Old Bisbee Sewer lateral preliminary engineering report and prepare budget estimates for six projects.
Public Works Director, Matthew Gurney, told the council the engineering report needed to be updated and the project needed to be broken down into six projects-based changes in funding procedures by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development.
According to a letter from Westland after the USDA reviewed the 2024 updated engineering plan they requested changes stating the over $100 million dollar project should be broken down into smaller projects to be eligible for different forms of funding.
