Bisbee City councilmember Lori Reyonlds is stepping down from her council seat effective June 1 sighting a contentious local political environment and other challenges that have made staying in the position unsuitable to her health.
According to her letter of resignation submitted May 12, she said, “I wish to resign from my Ward 1 council seat effective June 1, 2026. I have given this a great deal of thought. The requirements of the council position and the contentious local political environment, on top of current challenges in my life have made staying in the position unsustainable to my mental and physical health. I have learned a great deal and appreciate all the support I have received for being in the position.
I wish to continue working with Melissa Hartman and others on the committee towards the development of a senior living community, as well as a possible tiny home project to expand affordable housing options for older adults and others in our community. I welcome any other opportunities that may arise in which I can use my expertise to assist the city related to all things “older people.”
