A local architect recently received good news on a project he started seeking funds for nearly six years ago.
Ben Lepley recently learned that the glass restoration project was awarded a Heritage Fund Grant which will allow for the preservation and restoration of the glass sidewalk along Main Street near the Bisbee Restoration Museum.
Lepley said he and his staff have all donated countless hours drawing up plans for the project which were submitted with the application. “Many dozens of hours were spend researching the glass Luxfer prisms, how to restore them, measuring and drawing up the sidewalk, basement, and building structure. My employee Eugenio Longhi, trained in architecture and also a Bisbee resident also donated his time on the project. I then contacted a structural engineer Ahmed Rashed in Tucson who also donated his time and expertise.
