The City Council approved a property lease agreement for the Bisbee Unified School District (BUSD) building that currently houses the district offices, the library annex and the Bisbee Science Center after learning the district was planning to move out at the end of the school year.

Mayor Ken Budge said the lease agreement for 519 Melody Lane came about after the district contacted the city offering a lease agreement stating they 8would be vacating the district property and relocating the offices back to Lowell Junior High School for the next school year.

The proposed lease agreement between BUSD and the city for the use of the property outlines a 30-year term with an option to renew, with an annual rent of $ 1.00. The city will be responsible for maintenance, utilities, and improvements. The city will also be responsible for insurance.
