From Benson to Bisbee, artist Clement Scott has been carving his path on the local art scene since arriving in town in 2014. And after over 27 years in business, Belleza Gallery’s founder, Lou Anne Sterbick-Nelson, has handed over the reins to Scott. He officially took over ownership on May 16, allowing Sterbick-Nelson to move on and leave the gallery in good hands.
The two met in 2014, and Scott quickly became a staple in Sterbick-Nelson’s life and in her art gallery. Being a second-generation artist – following in his father’s footsteps – Scott grew up drawing, and she recognized the two had a shared vision and values.
Scott first went to an art school in Tucson to hone his skills; however, it was his time and experience at Watts Atelier in Encinitas, California where he learned the more technical aspects of painting, drawing, anatomy, etcetera.
