Petition Leads To Inspection Directive For Possible Code Violations

The Bisbee city council were presented with a petition from concerned citizens that a local developer has encroached on Clawson, Shearer, and Maxfield by extending parking areas and charging for parking which led to the narrowing of roadways causing safety and traffic flow issues.

According to information in the petition submitted by Doug and Anne Reiniger which was signed by 148 residents, they are asking the city to correct the unfair situation, claiming Old Bisbee High Lofts Developer Joseph Lewis placed paid parking signs and barriers that have led to encroaching onto Clawson Avenue and obstructing the sightline for oncoming vehicles all without notice to the neighbors.

The petition to the city reads as follows, “The undersigned, as citizens of Bisbee, hereby petition the City to redress Joe Lewis’ unilateral, unlawful usurpation of parts of Clawson, Shearer and Maxfield Avenues in order to make way for expanded paid parking lots and thereby endangering residents, their guests, and visitors, and causing added inconvenience by making segments of said avenues from two lanes to one lane.”
