The Cochise County Board of Directors, Tom Crosby, Kathleen Gomez and Frank Antenori, voted at a jail district meeting Tuesday morning on a resolution to end the collection of the jail tax after a judge approved the motion to dismiss a lawsuit pertaining to the jail tax last week.

By way of resolution 25-02, the Cochise County Jail District members voted to stop the collection of jail tax effective July 31, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. A move made quickly after Cochise County Superior Court Visiting Judge Michael Latham approved the motion to dismiss the LaChance, et al., and County of Cochise, Cochise County Jail District, Board of Supervisors, et al.
