The Bisbee City Council will revisit the previously tabled agenda item regarding establishing a city policy or directive concerning the use of city-owned or city-controlled property in connection with Civil Immigration Enforcement (ICE) after the council voted 6 to 1 to vote to remove the tabled item at the September 1 council meeting.
Recently seated Ward II councilmember Terry Priestley requested the council vote to remove the tabled item so that they can put the item on a future agenda to discuss whether or not the city should take action in response to a petition submitted earlier this year. The petition submitted back in March 2026 by Jennifer Druckman and other concerned citizens requested the city draft an ordinance that would prohibit ICE from using city owned property to stage enforcement operations and blocking the use of city resources for enforcement.
Councilmember Priestley said at the September 1 meeting, the agenda item for that night did not have anything to do with the merit of a policy or directive or whatever the final thing would be. This is strictly to remove the tabled item so that further discussion could be held at a future council meeting.
