Unofficial Results Show Burkert In The Lead For Mayoral Seat

After numerous meet and greets and candidate forums, as of press time Amy Burkert is the front runner to become Bisbee’s next mayor.

According to the unofficial results on the Cochise County elections website, it does not appear there will be a runoff in November for the Mayor seat. Burkert leads her three opponents Charles Flanagan, Carl Stetter and Jonnie Waniak with 786, 56.26 percent of the votes. Flanagan received 521 votes, 37.29 percent, followed by Stetter who received 42 votes, 3.01 percent and Waniak received 45 votes, 3.22 percent.

The Ward II council seat front runner is Terry Priestley who as of press time received 344 votes, 67.32 percent, while his opponent Cynthia Conroy received 167 votes, 32.68 percent.
