A designation many years in the making has finally come to fruition, after it was announced on December 10 that the Warren District of Bisbee is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Bill Collins, National Register of Historic Places Program Coordinator, Arizona State Historic Preservation Office said in an email that was forwarded to The Bisbee Observer, “Counting from Woodward’s 1993 Warren survey, this is the longest nomination project in SHPO’s history, I believe. Again, congratulations for bringing this to completion.”
Bisbee City Manager Stephen Pauken said it was a proud moment for city staff and members of the community who worked very hard on the project for many years. He added it was very gratifying to receive as he is set to retire in January.
